Wow...where to begin, where to begin. Honestly SO much happened at AX I have no idea where to even start. I guess maybe day by day?
Day 0: Had Public Speaking class in the morning so I showed up in cosplay (as Shinji Ikari from Eva) and had to do a presentation which was fittingly on cosplay. lol I was super nervous but everyone was really nice and actually thought I looked great! Didn't make it up to LA until 4:30 or so but luckily I was able to jump in line with
and save me a few hours. XP Got my badge before making the trek back home.
Day 1: Woke up at the crack of dawn and redid my Judal wig before putting him on and heading back to LA. BARELY made it to the Magi gathering though I was a bit disappointed it got moved outside in the scorching heat. >.< I had a great time paling around with
as the sexy Fembad as well as other Magi friends. Oh and the 2nd Magi gathering at the Aniplex booth was pretty kool too although I think their whole "choose a king" game was kinda fail. I honestly don't even know how it was played or who even won. Glad I wasn't chosen for that in the end. Had a couple shoots and ended the night on an awesome note at
's hotel room where she had the couch setup Arabian style with beautiful fabrics and baskets of fruit!!! We pretty much had a mega Magi shoot there and I can't thank her enough for inviting me! SO LEGIT!!!
Day 2: Sadly this whole day pretty much got screwed since I was unable to finish Casshern in time (my Dio didn't finish either so I didn't feel so bad) so I spent the entire time in my hotel room finishing up my 3D gear for my Eren Jaeger cosplay from Attack on Titan. Seriously, I didn't make it to the con until 8:30PM where I did a test run of Eren in full gear...learned alot from that experience on what was fragile and needed to be redone and also got alot of positive feedback from random con-goers. It made me feel really good after spending so much time on it. ^^
Day 3: Since I had to rethink my attachment method for the 3D gear on Eren (as well as style his wig...which was still kinda fail DX) I took quite awhile to get suited up and unfortunately missed the George Wada panel (producer from Attack on Titan) as well as the Attack on Titan gathering. BUT I had a few really really amazing shoots before running back to the hotel and swapping into Neku for TWEWY group shoot I had lined up. Made it to that a bit late but everyone else was running late too so it was ok. I've never been in a shoot with that many people (9 total) and the photographer was super awesome and made sure to get individual shots as well as group/partner shots. Unfortunately people had to leave as it got late but overall it was a huge success.
Day 4: I honestly believe this was my favorite day of all. Started off as Eren and got in a couple shoots before swapping out for Shinji in time for
's Eva group shoot followed by the Gainax gathering at the Eva cockpit. I loved every second of my time spent as Shinji. As if taking shippy pics with
as my amazing Kaworu and finally getting time with my cosplay Mama as Rei and cosplay Father as Gendo wasn't enough, I got to sit in the Eva cockpit and take pictures...IT WAS SUCH A COSPLAY HIGH!!! And then
and I got to sit in the cockpit together as KawoShin and someone videoed us for one of those cosplay vids! I seriously hope we make it to the final cut of the vid. *A* After that all the Eva people moved to the school shoot spot and we all took derpy shots with Gendo as the teacher and Unit 1 scratching on the chalk board with her progressive knife in the background while all the Shinjis assumed the pussy position before the Kaworu's came in to comfort us. XD
All in all, despite the disappointments (not finishing Casshern, missing most of Day 2, missing the George Wada panel, missing the AoT gathering) there were so many amazing and legit things (hotel room Magi shoot, finishing Eren's 3D gear, TWEWY group shoot, and time in the Eva cockpit as Shinji) that I feel AX13 was a raging success. I admit I was flipping out before (and even during) because things weren't going the way I had planned but I held it together with the support of family and friends and I can proudly say it wasn't a failure like last year.
I'm taking a week off to catch up on school, sleep, and food (and anime, manga, and video games!) before getting right back to working on cosplays. I need to redo all of Eren's straps and figure out a better more sturdy means of attaching the gear, finish Casshern in time for Comikaze con, and redo Judals braid and pants (got a hole in them while climbing a flippin tree XP). THEN after that begins my new lineup of cosplays~
